What to do in a rescue situation
The better prepared you are for situations where first aid may be required, the easier it will be for you to take the correct actions.
The rescue chain always starts with the person who is first on the scene and reports the emergency by calling 112. If the caller uses the 112 Suomi app, the emergency response centre operator will be able to see the caller’s location automatically.
Remaining calm and acting systematically is vital in a rescue situation. If there are several first-aiders present, the most experienced should take the lead until the authorities arrive.

Make a quick assessment of the situation: has there been an accident or is this a sudden illness?

Call the emergency number: 112
Use the 112 Suomi app to call emergency services.

Rescue those in danger and warn others
Rescue those whose life is in danger and do what you can to prevent further injury.

Administer first aid
Administer emergency first aid as required, provide shelter and calm the situation down. Keep the person you are helping warm. If there are other people present, ask them to help.

Monitor the situation
Keep checking on the person while you wait for professional help. Stay calm and keep outsiders away.
