Punainen Risti Ensiapu is part of the preparedness and response framework of the Finnish Red Cross and the whole country. Our proceeds go towards supporting the domestic aid operations of the Finnish Red Cross and thereby benefit all of us living in Finland.

Nationwide first aid organisation

Punainen Risti Ensiapu opened for business on 1 September 2017. The company is wholly owned by the headquarters and districts of the Finnish Red Cross, and our activities are governed by the principles of the Red Cross, a code of ethics and the desire to protect life.

Punainen Risti Ensiapu and its extensive network of partners train first-aiders who have the confidence and the ability to act in an emergency. We are a part of the preparedness and response framework of the Finnish Red Cross and the whole country. Our proceeds go towards supporting the domestic readiness operations of the Finnish Red Cross.

We are a social enterprise that works for the common good. Our mission is to promote health, wellbeing and health security.

Our operations contribute to making the Finnish Red Cross the leading first aid organisation in the country, both in terms of giving aid and providing first aid training.

Punainen Risti Ensiapu, Training Programmes

The Training Programmes unit is responsible for the administration, development and production of implementation guidelines and learning resources for Red Cross first aid courses. FRC first aid courses are the best known and most esteemed first aid courses in Finland. An authentic FRC first aid course has a title with the prefix FRC.

We also run FRC First Aid Instructor training events and act as the administrator of the electronic training and competence system Competence Admin.

We have approximately 600 partner organisations that run first aid courses in accordance with the Red Cross training programmes across Finland.

Annual General Meeting and Board of Punainen Risti Ensiapu

The Annual General Meeting is the highest decision-making body of Punainen Risti Ensiapu. It elects the persons nominated by the shareholders as ordinary members of the company’s Board. The Board consists of seven (7) ordinary members and is responsible for the management and operations of the company. The Secretary General of the Finnish Red Cross has the right to be present and speak at Board meetings. The Board of Punainen Risti Ensiapu appoints the CEO, who attends the meetings of the company’s Board.

The Board of Punainen Risti Ensiapu includes representatives of the headquarters and districts of the Finnish Red Cross as well as highly experienced representatives of the health care sector and the business world.
