First aid skills are among the most important skills in life. First aid training is integral to workplace preparedness planning, which is primarily the employer’s responsibility.

Certification guarantees that FRC first aid training is of the same high standard throughout Finland. Employers can therefore rest easy knowing that the standard of training does not rely on each individual course organiser’s assessment but on criteria verified by an independent third party.

Preparedness-related first aid training should be designed on a case by case basis according to the organisation’s first aid preparedness plan and a comprehensive risk assessment.

Organisations can book a custom-built FRC first aid course for their staff or instruct their staff to attend a public FRC first aid course. The advantage with custom-built courses lies in the ability to flexibly tie first aid into the staff’s overall preparedness training and to incorporate organisation-specific themes.

FRC First Aid Instructor training is a form of in-service training for health care professionals. All FRC first aid courses are run by certified FRC First Aid Instructors who have a valid instructor qualification.

To obtain and keep their qualification, instructors must agree to follow Punainen Risti Ensiapu’s implementation guidelines for first aid training programmes, act in a responsible and environmentally friendly manner and comply with Punainen Risti Ensiapu’s code of ethics.

Everyone who completes an FRC first aid course will automatically receive a user-friendly mobile certificate. If you would also like a physical certification card, you will need to let the course organiser know this in advance.

If you decide that you want a physical card later, you can request one via the following links:

Card request form for individuals
Card request form for organisations

There is a charge of EUR 14.90 per card (+ VAT) for cards requested after the course. Even if you request a physical certification card when you book the course, you will also receive a mobile certificate.

All FRC first aid certificates issued on the basis of first aid courses run by Punainen Risti Ensiapu’s Training Programmes unit are valid for three years.

We recommend taking a refresher course at least every three years.

If you have completed an FRC first aid course, you will be able to view your competence qualifications in the OmaEnsiaputodistus portal, which you can access at https://oma.ensiaputodistus.fi/login.

If you have forgotten your login details, you can request a new password by clicking on ‘Forgot password?’. Remember to use the same email address that you used when you booked your first aid course.

If your certificate has expired and your competence qualification is no longer valid, you will need to take FRC First Aid Course EA 1® again to receive a valid certificate.

Please note that expired qualifications cannot be updated and you must take the original course again.

You can find out more about FRC first aid courses and different course formats here.

You can take the FRC Emergency First Aid 4 h or the FRC Emergency First Aid 8 h online course to update a valid FRC First Aid Course EA 1® or FRC First Aid Course EA 2® qualification for another three years one time.

Find out more about updating your competence qualifications here.

You can demonstrate your competence by presenting both your original FRC First Aid Course EA 1® or FRC First Aid Course EA 2® certificate and your new FRC Emergency First Aid 4 h certificate.

Your mobile certificate is stored in the OmaEnsiaputodistus portal.
